Utilizing Sharing Circles in Research: A Research Methodology Workshop

The Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR) will be hosting a workshop to introduce attendees to Sharing Circles as a Research Methodology. The workshop will be led by Dr. Rose Roberts and Dr. Tracey Carr.

This workshop will help attendees understand how to conduct a Sharing Circle gathering and discuss other key facets of the research process; namely, developing reciprocal and meaningful relationships with the Indigenous communities, including members from communities on the research team, and ensuring that Indigenous Protocols are properly integrated into the Sharing Circle and research gathering.

The presenters will also discuss their experiences with Sharing Circles: what has gone well, challenges that have been encountered, and suggestions for those seeking to employ this method. Finally, presenters will discuss the cultural significance of this method to Indigenous Peoples and the necessity of using a method that interconnects with the worldview of participants.

The presentation and discussion will not be available via WebEx.
